Whenever the United Architects of the Philippines - Davao Chapter hears Defining Spaces, they think of election. So it was; the 8th General Membership Meeting of the UAP - Davao Chapter was held on the Friday night of February 24, 2023, the first day of the prestige construction show event of the chapter.
The GMM was started with the presentation of the products by the sponsors who made the GMM possible, Gardner Fiber Cement Boards and Triton Paints. There were discussions about the products introduced that night while eating the sumptuous food from 1953, Kusina Leticia.

The electoral board comprises past presidents Manuel Rosales, Perry Remolador, and Past District Director Ma. Concepcion Dy, who was the presiding officer, the nomination of the new officers from the top, Chapter President, to the bottom, the board of directors, was deemed successful as attested by the GMM attendees, face-to-face and via internet call, with the help of Ar. Carlyne Tenecio, in writing the names of the nominees on the front, the votation started.
The Electoral Board
The First position for votation is the Chapter President. The first nominee was Ar. Sheanna Bacus, the current Vice President for Operations and a strong candidate to lead the next fiscal year. No one dared to nominate another candidate for the Chapter presidency, so it was moved to close the nomination and seconded by the face-to-face attending architects. Everyone saw the efforts of Ar. Sheanna, as visible on the Defining Spaces 14, so no one went against it.
The Second position was the Vice President for the Plans and Programs and for the Operations. As explained by the presiding officer, these two positions will be the assistants of the Chapter President in terms of planning and execution. Two names were nominated for this position, namely Ar. Mendrado Canusa IV and Ar. Catrina Patron, both of which served hand-on-hand on the accounting of the Chapter as the auditor and the treasurer. Again, no one dared to nominate another name stronger than these names, so it was moved to close the nomination and seconded again by the face-to-face attending architects. These great architects are faithful friends of the incoming Chapter President so there will be no conflict regarding planning and operations.
The Third Position, the Chapter Secretary, was explained by the presiding officer on his or her duties and responsibilities for the president and the chapter. In short, this position is the closest to the president's work. Ar. Sheanna Bacus first nominated Ar. Joshua Lasa, the current director in membership, but declined due to his faithfulness of being a chapter secretary to only one chapter president: the Past President and current Vice President in Plans and Programs Ar. Neil Braw. By then, the name of Ar. Lalinka Fe Regalado was nominated for this position, which she gladly accepted, her dear friend during her college days. The attending architects moved the nomination to close and seconded again, making Ar. Lalinka Fe Regalado, the Chapter secretary for the next fiscal year.
The Fourth Position is the treasurer. A prestige position only the brightest of the engineering subjects can handle, such as Ar. Mendrado Canusa IV and Ar. Catrina Patron. The first name to be nominated was Ar. Carlyne Tenecio but was declined immediately. The name of Ar. Angeluz Tesoro, the current Chapter Secretary, was nominated and accepted to help Ar. Sheanna Bacus in handling finances in the chapter. No one contended to her name and so the nomination and closed by the attending architects.
The Fifth Position, auditor, was placed with the name Ar. Emmanuel Pasia, a dear friend to the incoming Chapter President, Vice Presidents, and the secretary. As a faithful friend, he accepted the position with gladness.
The Sixth Position will be composed of board of directors (6). Ar. Ma. Concepcion defined the duties and responsibilities of the position and moved to open in accepting any nominees for the post. Several names were raised:
Ar. Gimelle Butas, a hard-working current director
Ar. Quenne Malaki, a passionate current director of the chapter and to the current Chapter President, Ar. Gilbert Fortich.
Ar. Carlyne Tenecio, dedicated current director to the current fiscal year and the previous year.
Ar. John Paul Aloy, inspiring faculty member
Ar. Kurt Anuada, challenged by the incoming chapter secretary to step up
Ar. Daem Panizales, nominated by the past president and current vice presidents for plans and programs
Ar. Joshua Lasa, declined because of his faithfulness to the headship of the present chapter president
Ar. Carlos Seguido, an old member who was continually encouraged by the past presidents to serve as an officers
And Ar. Zyrra Glodove, a part of the committee organization to Defining Spaces 14.
Votes were then placed by the face-to-face architects and zoom participants, who can vote up to 5 times as counted by Ar. Joshua Lasa. In the end, Ar. Carlos Seguido and Ar. John Paul Aloy didn’t make into top 6.
