The 11th Hybrid General Membership Meeting (GMM) of the UAP - Davao Chapter was successfully held on May 23, 2023, at Lanai Filipino Diner & Drinks located at F. Torres Street, Davao City. The meeting commenced with sponsors DenPrime Home and Polylite Industrial Corporation presenting their products and services to the attendees, allowing the members to gain insights into their latest offers in the industry. A delightful dinner was served after the presentations, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for networking and camaraderie between the old and new members at the venue.
To set a reflective tone for the meeting, Ar. Joshua Lasa led the gathering with an opening prayer. This was followed by a roll call headed by Chapter Secretary Ar. Angeluz Tesoro, to ensure the presence of all members present on-site and on Zoom. Right after the roll call, Chapter President Ar. Gilbert Fortich delivered his President’s Report, providing a comprehensive overview of the chapter’s achievements, initiatives, and ongoing projects. Before continuing Ar. Fortich’s report, Chapter Treasurer Ar. Catrina Patron presented the Treasurer’s Report, allowing the members to gain transparency and a clear understanding of the chapter’s current financial standing.
Ar. Fortich resumed the report by sharing the outcome of the PRC Sports Fest held at the Lyceum of the Philippines - Davao, where UAP members participated in friendly competitions against criminology and other groups of professionals. Although the team did not emerge victorious, the event was delightful, fostering sportsmanship among the participants. Another evening topic was the induction of new Architects held at the Grand Menseng, with UAP Kadayawan leading the ceremony, symbolizing the growth and expansion of the profession. The meeting also included discussions on upcoming events and plans. The chapter deliberated on planning an inter-chapter basketball tournament involving District D1 Architects.
Furthermore, the UAP Inaugural 2023, scheduled to be held in Tagaytay, was announced. This event will mark the official inauguration of Ar. Sheanna Bacus, the incoming President, signifying a new leadership for the UAP - Davao Chapter. Other significant announcements were made, including the proposal for the 12th General Membership Meeting to be held at the E-lounge, with six potential sponsorships. Additionally, the chapter’s current Vice President, Ar. Sheanna Bacus, shared plans for a Supplier’s Summit, tentatively scheduled for July 13, 2023. The summit aimed to bring suppliers and industry professionals together, fostering collaboration and promoting innovative solutions.
The meeting also allowed the UAP - Davao Chapter to announce the establishment of its new office, located at Unit #107 ENM Building, Corner Sampaloc and Dao Street, Juna Subdivision, Matina Davao City. Also, a board resolution proposal regarding Tebow Cure donations was presented. The proposal was duly approved by Past President Ar. Francis Hidalgo and seconded by Past President Ar. Prospero Abellano to show the collective dedication to supporting meaningful causes. Furthermore, a moment of silence and prayer was led by Ar. Aiken Dela Cruz to honor Ar. Vlanche Bragas, who had passed away. This served as a reminder of the solidarity and support within the community, seeking justice for the untimely death of Ar. Bragas.
The evening continued with the announcement of an upcoming team-building event for the incoming officers of 2023-2024, led by Chapter Vice President Ar. Sheanna Bacus. Lastly, Chapter Treasurer Ar. Catrina Patron conducted a briefing on the Taiwan Educational Tour, where tickets and kits were distributed to participating members, promoting opportunities for professional development and international exposure.
