Amidst the surge of busyness that often chomps architects in their lives, the UAP Davao chapter gathered with optimism for its 5th General Membership Meeting at the Air Pro System showroom at Bacaca, Davao City on November 23,2023.
As architects slowly occupied the room, fellowship stimulated the venue. Past President Daniel Lim set a serene tone with a sincere prayer invoking the profession’s role and purpose.
Stepping into the limelight as a hallmark of leadership, President Sheanna Bacus took the stage to deliver a warm welcome, emphasizing the observance of professional etiquette in maintaining a collaborative atmosphere.
The evening unfolded with the start of the Product Presentation session, featuring industry partners of innovation. Thermodify, a designer company of air conditioning systems and solar-powered solutions, entranced the audience with their product efficiencies as their aircon systems are in use in cooling the venue. Followed by Builtrite Construction Chemical of Mana Prime Inc., featured a range of construction defect chemical solutions and preventive methods. The third presenter was Otis Elevator Company, showcasing the variety of market-available elevators and their active services, demonstrating their advancements in vertical transportation.
Progressing smoothly into the Call to Order, it was declared quorum with a remarkable turnout of 98 members, comprising 49 physically present and 49 online. Treasurer Gimelle Butas proceeded to present a comprehensive financial report on the chapter's fiscal standing from October 15 to November 21, 2023.
President Sheanna Bacus, in her report, traversed through a band of agendas, from running through the highlights of the recently concluded National Convention of Architects to reiterating the recently released template for the Professional Service Agreement, transforming the meeting into a conflation of knowledge and foresight.
In the thick of announcements, the spotlight was rightfully on the upcoming 15th Defining Spaces Event at SM Annex Ecoland. The update was the planned booths are already 93% filled, which signifies both the event's widespread acclaim and the chapter's active engagement.
The nearing Christmas Party was planned to have an 80’s theme to be held at Harana Restaurant, Torres, Davao City with its promises of a merry gathering. Most of all, the gratifying part of the night was the celebration of a historic Supreme Court ruling. Granting the Architects to exclusively sign and seal Architectural Documents, and coming to an end of the 20-year battle with triumph and strength of the Architectural community.
The meeting was closed with a prayer by Ar. Joshua Lasa with a group photo as a memento of the Chapter’s solidarity and unwavering commitment
