Davao City, September 8, 2024 – The UAP Davao Chapter celebrated its 49th Induction Ceremony with elegance and grandeur at the luxurious Apo View Hotel. The event, themed “Malugtarong Pinaghiusa: Community Building and Collaboration for Long Lasting Unity,” showcased a stunning black and gold ambiance that highlighted the unity and commitment within the architectural community.
The evening began at 6:40 PM with a distinguished processional featuring Chapter Officers, Past Presidents, District Council Members, and esteemed guests, including Keynote Speaker Mr. Neil Solomon Locsin, Guest Speaker Past National President Ar. Benjamin Panganiban Jr., and Chapter President Ar. Daem Mark Panizales. The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem, UAP March, and Architect’s Credo, setting a solemn and respectful tone.
Chapter Director Ar. Blesida Christhia Simplicio welcomed the attendees, extending warm greetings. Secretary Ar. Prinz Socriele Arce acknowledged the presence of valued members, guests, and industry partners. A special touch was added with a video message from Davao City Vice Mayor Atty. Melchor Quitain Jr., highlighting local governmental support for the event.
Following the opening remarks, guests enjoyed a dinner, with Chapter Director Ar. Sherwin Puntas leading a reflective Dinner Prayer. The evening continued with inspirational video messages from UAP National President Ar. Donato Magcale.
Chapter Director Ar. Angelica Jem Verga then introduced Keynote Speaker Mr. Locsin, who delivered a compelling address on the significance of Filipino Architecture and the role of architects in conservation.

The Chapter President presented Mr. Locsin with a token of gratitude for his insightful contribution.
The program included a congratulatory video from Region XI PRC Director Hon. Raquel Abrantes, recognizing the chapter’s accomplishments. Chapter Director Ar. Zyra Joy Glodove-Cabardo introduced Guest Speaker PNP Ar. Panganiban, who spoke on the importance of collaboration within the profession.

The Chapter President also presented PNP Ar. Panganiban with a token of appreciation.
Past AVP Ar. Jaime Gonzaga then charged the new officers, setting the stage for the induction of the FY 2024-2025 Chapter Officers, conducted by District Director Ar. Isabelita Israel. This formal induction welcomed the new leadership team into their roles.
A heartfelt recognition of past officers followed, with Past President Sheanna Bacus delivering a moving valedictory address reflecting on the chapter’s journey and achievements under her leadership.

In a symbolic gesture, PP Bacus handed over the gavel to the new Chapter President, witnessed by the District Council.
The Chapter President then delivered an inspiring Inaugural Address, outlining his vision for the chapter's future.
“Our goal this fiscal year is to continue the programs that our predecessors have laid out and to renew our policy manual and code of ethics within our chapter. Our commitment to ethical practice is unwavering, and we aim to foster a culture where this is upheld, and our operations are transparent, efficient, and effective. We want you to feel reassured and confident in how our chapter is run, knowing that we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity…”

These are the elements that shape the identity of our communities and that distinguish Davao from other towns. As we move forward, we must work together to enhance our city's image and reputation, not just as architects but as stewards of the environment and guardians of our cultural legacy.”

One of the highlights of the evening was the induction of new members. Chapter VP John Paul Aloy charged the inductees with their new responsibilities, and the Chapter President led the induction ceremony.
Mentors and key figures pinned the new members, officially welcoming them into the chapter. Ar. Ingrid Barcelona also performed “Tatak Arkitektong Pilipino” to commemorate the 49th UAP Davao Chapter Induction Ceremony.
The evening concluded with tokens of appreciation presented to guests and industry partners. Most importantly, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed Industry Partners who continually support our Chapter. Namely Mindasales Construction OPC, IOS Technology Wastewater Treatment Services, K & K Innovation Co. During the closing ceremony, chapter directors Ar. Riel Jan Flores and Ar. Erl Anthony Luego made final announcements for the upcoming events. Followed by Ar. Xyanle Kriz De Jesus closing remarks presenting a Same Day Edit video capturing the event's highlights. Then a pictorial session, capturing more memories of the night. Lastly the event wrapped up with the awarding of the Best Dressed Award, a lively fellowship, and a raffle, ensuring a memorable end to a successful celebration.
